How to Open a Middle East Office with Effecta Compliance

May 13, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 9:00 am

As we sit at our home offices looking out at the grey sky and waiting for our slot in the vaccination que there is another part of the world enjoying a near to normal life, where the sun is out every day, you can book your vaccine online and there is no personal tax to pay!  Is it any wonder that the UAE market is not only recovering but growing?

The UAE is now one of the worlds significant financial hubs and many UK firms are considering how to tap this emerging market.  In many ways the UAE is ahead of the pack when it comes to regulating crypto assets and embracing fintech but it is also fertile ground for trading firms wishing to capture a currently underserviced local market while have access to clients in both the East and the West.  Not only is this market ideally positioned from a time difference perspective it is also based largely on UK regulatory standards which you will all be familiar with.

When looking at setting up an entity in the UAE you need to consider where in the UAE to incorporate, what license is required, what regulatory capital is required and what are the costs.  So if your firm has ever consider setting up operations in the UAE this webinar is key to setting out the options available, the process, the costs as well as the potential opportunities.

Clare Curtis, CEO of Effecta Compliance, works closely with UK entities in understanding their needs and advising them on where and how to set up their business.  Clare has worked for 14 years in the Middle East and has a comprehensive knowledge of the regulatory requirements as well as a substantial network to assist firms when seeking to become regulated.

Clare will be joined by Ali Hassan, Head of International Coverage for Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Ali has been involved with DIFC for 16 of its 17 year history, firstly as a senior financial regulator in Dubai and for the last 8 years leading DIFC’s international engagement supporting financial institutions and tech firms to identify and engage market opportunities arising in the MEASA region.
